Chamber Benefit:
Health-Related Insurance Products Provide Unique Features

When considering employee benefits, we usually think of medical insurance—which offsets the costs of medical procedures, medication or hospitalization. But what if a medical condition keeps you or your employees from working? Medical insurance may help pay the doctors, pharmacy and hospital, but other types of health-related insurance are important to help pay mortgages, car payments and childcare expenses.

Greater Georgia Life Insurance Company (GGL), an affiliate of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, can help make your employee benefit package complete. Greater Georgia Life, in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, provides financial security to millions of Georgia workers in the form of life and disability benefits. As a Chamber member business, you can access Greater Georgia Life’s products as a part of the existing MemberCare Alliance of AugustaSM program. When purchased on a group basis, the benefits are less costly than you might expect.

Greater Georgia Life offers several innovative product features unique to the life and disability insurance market. One is related to their term life insurance product. GGL beneficiaries have two choices regarding the benefit pay-out available to them: the standard lump sum pay-out, or an interest-bearing checking account from which the recipient may withdraw funds as needed.

Another Greater Georgia Life feature is related to long term disability. Many carriers offer partial disability benefits as an option, but the cost for this option can increase your premium by as much as 12%. GGL recognizes the importance of rehabilitation, and offers a “progressive partial” benefit as a standard policy provision on all long term disability policies. The “progressive partial” benefit allows an employee to return to work (if medically able) and receive full disability benefits while still rehabilitating.

If you’re interested in finding out more about Greater Georgia Life’s offerings, as well as the other insurance products available as a part of MemberCare Alliance of Augusta, please call the Chamber, your local participating insurance agent, or Purchasing Alliance Solutions, Inc., (the company that developed MemberCare Alliance of Augusta) at 1-800-782-8254.

Greater Georgia Life Insurance Company is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association.
